It is uncommon to receive third-party claims on YouTube, but it can happen. These claims can occur when someone mistakenly claims your video, perhaps because a melody sounds similar to another or simply due to an error. YouTube's Content ID system is good, but not perfect, so mistakes can happen. These claims are harder for us to resolve since they come from outside parties that are not related to Cora Music or our music distributors.
If you get a claim that doesn't go away within an hour, follow these steps:
-
Take a Screenshot: Capture an image of the claim or forward the email with the copyright claim to us.
-
Contact Us: Send us the screenshot or forwarded email to claim@coramusic.com. We will investigate and get back to you with more information.
-
Dispute the Claim: Once we have confirmed the claim is incorrect and from a third party, you can dispute the claim directly in your YouTube Studio.
- Respond to Third-Party Claims: Email the address provided in Google's email about the claim to dispute it. Use the template below to explain that you have a license with Cora Music and that the claim is incorrect:
TEMPLATE:
Subject: Incorrect Copyright Claim
Dear [Recipient's Name],
I am writing to inform you that the copyright claim on my video [Video Title] (Video ID: [Video ID]) is incorrect. I have an active license with Cora Music, which covers the music used in my video. You can view the video here: [Video Link]. Here is the link to the licensed song: [Cora Music Song Link].
Please review and remove the claim at your earliest convenience.
Thank you, [Your Name]
Note: We will do our best to help you get the third party to release the claim, but if they do not, you may need to re-upload the video and use a different song from our library.
